Our Youth Activities
NTBC Youth attends Carolina Youth Blast held at the Positive Action for Christ ministry in Whitakers, NC. This is a day of great preaching, intense competition, eating, and fun. Our young people have competed successfully in the volleyball (well, sort of successfully), the 3-on-3 soccer tournament, and our favorite: Human Foozeball. This is a really unusual event held every year under a huge big-top tent. The preacher for the 2010 Medieval Madness is Evangelist Willie Partin from the Wilds.
Gospel Light Youth Conference
The preaching of Kenny Baldwin, Greg Locke, and Kurt Skelley are sure to bless our young people. The activities for the week include a trip to Carowinds and Emerald Point Water Park. We will not be attending this year's GLYC. Instead, we will be attending the Teen Extreme Camp at Pensacola Christian College.

Valentines Banquet 2010: February 13th
Valentines Banquet 2011: February 12th
This annual event is probably the most unique feature of our Youth Ministry.
Several years ago, several of our young people concocted the idea that it would be great if we could host a banquet for the adults of New Testament Baptist Church, and the fundraiser grew out of the banquet idea. This would become the way we fund our summer trip, and as a result, this banquet has become one of the most anticipated events on the calendar. Every year our young people develop a new theme, decoration ideas, a menu, and entertainment. The young people added a cake auction complete with a real auctioneer for the 2008 Valentines Banquet, and thanks to the generosity of the people of New Testament Baptist Church, the 2009 Valentines Banquet, "Love is in the Air," was a very successful banquet. The 2010 Banquet added a game show theme with The Price Is Right theme.
Some of the traditions that have developed over the years include: hauling in huge sheets of cardboard for painting the backdrops, Friday night decorating, Saturday teen shopping, teen parents participating in crazy skits, and out-of-this-world finger-lickin'- beef brisket barbecue.
Teen Extreme Camp... July 12-16, 2010

Bible BootCamp'10.... July 26-29, 2010
BootCamp has become a regular summer fixture at New Testament Baptist Church. It is another one of our activities that keeps getting better and better, and in some ways more intense. In addition to taking our teens to summer camp, we bring camp to our church. For the previous three summers Evangelist David Cajiuat has preached to our teens during BootCamp week. This summer will be different with a different preacher each night.
With the addition of two huge tents and Marine camo. netting, we are able to move the entire operation in the field. This has really added to the realism of the BootCamp experience. With new games developed just for BootCamp, and new bizarre ways to do crazy things to teens, the BootCamp'10 should be the best ever.
We have developed several traditions out of the BootCamp experience that many of our young people look forward to. We spend several weeks hauling in huge boxes from stores around the area and we use them to build games and cardboard box mazes and targets to shoot water baloons at. Another rather strange thing that shows up for one week every summer is the manequin family. We do all sorts of strange things with these creatures like hauling them in the church van and taking them to McDonalds, and placing them on a table in the middle of a field and shooting water baloons at them. Two years ago we even featured them in an impromptu movie. Another tradition is spending every morning of BootCamp week filling up water baloons for
Thursday Night Water Night. Our teens have developed permanent calouses from tieing water boallons, but it's all worth it when you get to throw several thousand ice-cold water baloons at the other team. Every year we set a goal to fill the most water baloons in a four day period. Our record is approaching 10,000 water baloons- that's 2,500 every day for four days straight.
MCAS Cherry Point Air Show Saturday, May 22, 2010
You have to absolutely love noise, lots of noise, and jets to enjoy this activity, but few things inspire patriotism and appreciation for our men and women in the military like attending an airshow. For the previous several years we have attended the Saturday day show.
Our young people enjoy the static displays, the fly-bys, the Harriers, the Blue Angels, the funnel cakes, getting shot at by a Cobra Gunship; but one thing stands out above the rest. The jet-powered truck, Shockwave, is worth the trip. You have to see it to believe it. You can feel the heat and experience the intense pressure and sound when they light the afterburner. Everyone that attends this youth activity loves it.
Camp Deer Lake... June 28-July 3, 2010
What can I say? Camp Deer Lake holds a special place in the hearts of all of our young people. Many of them have attended this camp every summer since they were 8 years old. Our junior highers who are in the 8th grade and our senior highers can apply to go as Junior Counselors. This has served to enhance our ministry training for our young people because they get to attend camp and minister to our juniors as counselors. Our teens really enjoy it because Deer Lake is a great
place to spend a week with friends, meet new friends, and work in a ministry that is really making a difference in the lives of young people. It is our prayer that this camping experience will lead some of our teens into full-time Christian camp ministry.
The speaker for our Junior Week will be Jake D'Andrea.
